Colorful rally and seminar organized on the occasion of World Heart Day by Department of Cardiology, Satkhira Medical College

 Desk Report: A colorful rally and seminar was held in Satkhira on the occasion of World Heart Day-2022, keeping in mind the motto "Use Heart for Every Heart". On Thursday (September 29) at 10 a.m. in the organization of the cardiology department of Satkhira Medical College, the head of the medical college cardiology department organized the examination center of the medical college. Under the chairmanship of Sanjay Sarkar, the seminar was welcomed by Dr. Consultant of Cardiology Department of Medical College Hospital. Suman Kumar Das.

The principal of Satkhira Medical College, Professor Dr., spoke as a special guest at the seminar. Dr. Ruhul Quddus, supervisor of Satkhira Medical College Hospital. Sheikh Kudrat-e-Khuda, Academic Coordinator of Satkhira Medical College A. H. S. M. Kamruzzaman, Swachip and BMA Satkhira District General Secretary Dr. Md. Manowar Hossain, Associate Professor and Head of Medicine Department Dr. Kazi Arif Ahmed, Associate Professor and Head of Gynecology Department Dr. Shankar Prasad Biswas, Associate Professor and Head of Surgery Department Dr. Md. Shariful Islam and others.

Speakers in the seminar said that heart disease can be reduced to a large extent through proper diet and regular exercise and stay healthy. Heart disease has the highest mortality rate compared to other diseases.

Every two minutes a person dies of heart disease in the country. And about 32 people died every hour. Its number stands at about 769 people per day. The number of which is 23 thousand 83 per month. According to estimates, 277,000 people die of heart failure every year. Tobacco accounts for 24 percent of this. 1 lakh 61 thousand people die annually in the country due to diseases related to tobacco use. Speakers at the seminar said that stronger laws are needed to reduce the risk of tobacco-related heart disease. Like other countries of the world, the day is being observed seriously in Bangladesh. In the ceremony, 1 minute silence was observed for the heroic martyrs of the Great Liberation War of 1971, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and his family members, national leaders and those who died in Corona on August 15, 1975. On the occasion of the 76th birthday of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, good health and long life were wished. Doctors and interns of Satkhira Medical College Hospital were present.
